Just 40% of Garda vehicles in the Clare/Tipperary Garda Division are based in this county.
New data released by the Department of Transport shows Clare continues to have one of the smallest Garda fleets in the country with just over 50 vehicles situated at Garda stations here.
There are 133 vehicles in total in the Clare/Tipperary Garda Division’s fleet.
Of these, just 53 are based at Clare stations, accounting for just shy of 40%, with the remaining 80 vehicles serving Tipperary.
Ennis Garda Station has 39 vehicles consisting of 26 cars, 15 of which are marked with 11 unmarked, while there are also 10 vans and two motorcycles at the disposal of Gardaí in Clare’s county town..
The station also has one “other” vehicle which it’s stated could either be a multi-purpose vehicle, sports utility vehicle, minibus or prisoner conveyance vehicle.
The remaining 14 Garda vehicles in Clare are based at Kilrush Garda Station.
This includes eight marked cars, three unmarked cars, two vans and one four by four.
An Garda Síochána currently has 3,628 vehicles in its possession and with 179, Louth/Cavan/Monaghan is the Garda division with the largest fleet.
