Clare’s live register saw an increase last month.
An additional 183 joined the county’s dole queues in July, but the total number signing on is well back on the same time last year.
July traditionally sees an increase in live register figures, and this year is no exception.
5,381 people are now signed on, according to the joblessness indicator, a month-on-month increase of 183.
That figure is well ahead of the rise in the same period in 2017, which saw less than 60 extra people sign on, while the year before saw just 27 more.
However, the total number of people claiming some form on unemployment benefit is still 746, or 12%, less than at the same time last year.
Over half of this fall-off has come in the Ennis area, where just under 2,900 people are now signing on.
North Clare has seen a drop in dole queues of 118 people, while the figures for West and East Clare is 64 and 29 respectively.
