July Homelessness Figures Show Worrying Levels Of Newly Homeless Families

99 families became newly homeless in Dublin in July.

It’s the second highest figure since 2013 according to Focus Ireland.

It follows the death of two homeless people yesterday in Dublin and Kildare.

In a statement this lunchtime, the Housing Minister has said he learned with regret about the deaths of the two individuals, and said the current unprecedented levels of homelessness are totally unacceptable.

Minister Eoghan Murphy will hold an Emergency Housing Summit with the Chief Executives of Ireland’s local authorities next week.
