50 new jobs have been created in Ennis, by a Multinational Corporation, thats now named County Clare as it’s European Headquarters.
Microsemi on the Gort Road, is celebrating 20 years in Ireland, and has paid tribute to staff at it’s Ennis facility, where 300 people are now employed.
The American Microsemi Corporation is now one of County Clare’s largest employers, with news that 50 additional staff have been recruited this year taking the total headcount at the site to 300.
Based on the Gort Road Industrial Estate since 1992, the Ennis facility concentrates on the development, manufacturing and testing of semiconductors to meet stringent aerospace, satellite, medical and security standards.
According to Jim Peterson, Microsemi’s President and Chief Executive, it’s now one of the largest such facilities globally, and during a vist this afternoon, he formally named Ennis as the company’s European Headquarters.
He also announced a new Microsemi Scholarship in Engineering at the University of Limerick, and the funding of a science and aerospace engineering programme at St. Flannan’s College in Ennis to commemorate 20 years of business in County Clare and to express a future commitment to Ireland.
