ISPCC Calls For Recruitment Of More Social Workers

The head of the ISPCC says we need to hire more social workers to protect vulnerable children.

Caroline O’Sullivan’s also warning they need to work longer hours as there’s usually no help after 5pm.

The charity has released its 2016 report which shows the majority of calls to its helpline were received ‘out of hours’, when there was no one else to talk to.

Last year 400,000 pleas for help were answered by their listening service Childline – that’s more than a thousand a day.

The ISPCC’s Caroline O’Sullivan says it all comes down to funding.
