Orthophosphate is being added in an effort to combat lead levels in homes in Limerick but the water utility company has confirmed that supply in Parteen, Ardnacrusha and Clonlara will also be affected.

Residents have raised concerns over the chemical saying it will negatively impact the environment as well as the health of those who drink it.

But Head of Assett Management at Irish Water, Jerry Grant says that's not the case.
