The figures released by Irish Water Safety reveal 24 rescues from guarded beaches and waterways as well as 40 people who were rescued from boats.

Clare Lifeguards also administered first aid to 524 people in the month of July and say 1,669 accidents were prevented by their proactive efforts at local waterways and beaches.
