Irish Water has committed to putting short-term measures in place to avoid another closure at Kilkee beach.
Representatives from the state company met with Kilkee Chamber of Commerce, after a swimming ban, which had been extended following heavy rain, was lifted yesterday.

The beach was initially closed seven days ago after an electrical fault at the local wastewater treatment system led to raw sewage being pumped into the sea.
Irish Water has told Kilkee Chamber that years of underspending on the existing infrastructure is to blame.
