MCPA, which is found in many commonly used herbicide products was found to be present in the Ennis and Shannon-Sixmilebridge drinking water supplies during 2019 and 2020.
Irish Water is now asking the farming community, greens keepers, grounds keepers, and domestic users to carefully consider any unnecessary use of pesticides.
Irish Water’s Operations Lead for Clare, Duane O’Brien says once pesticides enter the water supply, there is little that can be done to reverse the damage.
