Separately, an East Clare man says he’s “taken aback” over what he calls Irish Water’s “lack of compassion”, in how the state utility has dealth with issues affecting the home of his elderly mother.

Mike Leonard, a plumber from Bridgetown, has carried out an examination of pipes surrounding his mother’s home and believes there’s a blockage in the main sewer.

It’s led to issues for over a week, but Mike says Irish Water has told him that it’s not their problem to fix.

Mike fears it could now take up to a month before works are carried out privately and today he told Clare FM’s Morning Focus he’s angry over the way the situation has been handled.
