Irish Water has confirmed to Clare FM that County Councils WON'T have to pay the bills of local authority tenants who don't do so.

Concern had been expressed by some Councillors that the Council could be hit with an extra bill, if water bills weren't paid by some people living in local authority homes.
However, Irish Water has confirmed that only occupiers will be liable – the Council provided details of these individuals to the state utility last month, and says it was obliged to do so under law.
However, one local authority tenant who opposes water charges, Ennis woman Eileen Downes, believes this breaches her rights.
