The ISEQ index of Irish shares finished the day over 4 per cent higher.

In London the FTSE 100 clawed back much of its value, closing up 3 percent today – after dropping just under 5 percent yesterday.

Earlier, China cut its core interest rates after its slowing economy prompted a mass sell-off of global shares.
