It’s claimed that this year’s Irish Open in Lahinch won’t be defined by Rory Mcllroy’s decision not to take part.

The four-time Major winner says he’ll skip the event in order to focus on his preparations for the Open Championship in Portrush two weeks later.

The 29 year old is scaling back on the number of European Tour events that he is playing this year, but there had still been hopes that he would take part in his National Open.
