The Irish Coast Guard Service says it is committed to obtaining new facilities for it’s crew in Doolin.
That’s despite delays in securing funding for the new rescue centre in the North Clare town, as funding for it is now not expected to be available until 2014.
Plans for the project are at an advanced stage – the office of the OPW has sought tenders for it’s construction – but locals fear it will be three years before works on the much needed station begin
However, Director of the Irish Coast Guard Chris Reynolds says they’re working to secure the monies needed before then.
