The West Clare woman who is believed to have been the oldest person in Ireland has passed away.
Margaret (Maggie) Boland, nee O’Dwyer, of Carrigaholt, was born in August of 1909.

A well-known woman in the Loop Head area, she was even paid a visit by then-Taoiseach Enda Kenny when he spoke at Loop Head Lighthouse during last year’s General Election campaign.
Maggie Boland is predeceased by her husband Thomas and their daughter Bridget, and is survived by five daughters, and a wider circle of family and friends, including great-grandchildren.
