Ireland South MEP Says Michael D. Higgins “Overstepped The Mark”

An MEP for this region says Michael D. Higgins has represented Ireland “extremely well” while during his presidency but has “overstepped the mark” on occasion.

Former GAA President Seán Kelly has announced he’s considering a run to be this country’s next President when the election comes around in November.

The Fine Gael Member of the European Parliament will have to fend of former European Commissioner Mairead McGuinness and former Tánaiste Frances Fitzgerald who it’s understood are also seeking the party’s nomination.

Speaking on Clare FM’s Morning Focus, he says although the current President “strayed off script” from time to time, his legacy will be one of someone who stuck to their beliefs regardless of their detractors.
