An MEP for this region claims law abiding motorists are being punished for the actions of uninsured drivers.
Garda figures indicate a 52% rise in the number of drivers within the Clare/Tipperary Garda division that were caught driving without insurance last year.

Ireland South MEP, Cynthia Ní Mhurchú, has called for the urgent implementation of the Action Plan for Insurance Reform, as promised in the programme for government.
Ní Mhurchú, who is also a member of the EU Transport committee, says there is a clear correlation between the increase in the number of uninsured drivers and the spike in insurance premiums.
