An MEP for this region believes that Media Minister Catherine Martin is making a mistake in not offering funding and supports for local radio stations.
It comes as Minister Martin is due to announce a funding model for broadcast media after scandals in the nation’s State Broadcaster RTÉ

Its claimed local radio plays a vital role in Irish life and that the government should prevent what has been seen in the US and UK media markets where many local radio stations have shut down.
