Ireland South Candidate Claims Farmers “Tied Up In Knots” Regarding Food Production

A European Election candidate for this region believes farmers are being “tied up in knots” due to the level of regulation around food production.

Kerry native Mary Fitzgibbon, who’s a registered general nurse, midwife and full-time lecturer, is running as an independent in the upcoming elections and claims “EU law takes precedence over Irish law” in the majority of cases.

It comes as the European Commission has sent a draft proposal to member states for a limited extension to the state aid Temporary Crisis and Transition Framework which assists farmers in implementing crisis support measures.
