Investigations into cause of Limerick city hotel fire

A street in Limerick city remains sealed off this morning following a fire at a hotel last night.

A large section of Limerick City Hotel, formerly Jury's Inn, was destroyed in the blaze which broke out at about 8 o'clock.

100 guests were evacuated from the hotel and Lower Mallow Street was closed to traffic.

No injuries have been reported and the cause of the fire is unknown.

However fire officers are investigating the possibility of an electrical fault.
