A criminal investigation is being launched into the balcony collapse in Berkeley, which claimed the lives of six young Irish students.

Reports in the US say the local District Attorney's office is to lead the investigation, as police also reversed a decision not to examine the tragic incident.
A preliminary report has found that the balcony had been badly affected by dry rot.
