INMO Calls For Specific Steps Ahead Of Bank Holiday As Trolley Numbers At UHL Hit 98

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation has called on the HSE to take specific steps ahead of the Bank Holiday weekend to avoid overcrowding.

It comes as the nurses’ union’s latest trolleywatch analysis has shown there were 582 admitted patients waiting for beds during morning rounds.

University Hospital Limerick is by far the busiest, with 98 on trolleys, 50 of those in the Emergency Department.

The INMO says in a meeting with senior HSE management last week, it set out a number of actions that can be taken this weekend to alleviate pressure and that the union is now awaiting a response.
