Works which will see the Old Rectory at Inis Cealtra undergo an “absolute overhaul” have been put out to tender for €300,000.
The period house – which was built in 1905 and is located on the mainland overlooking Mountshannon Harbour and Lough Derg – is set to be repurposed as a visitor and interpretative centre for Inis Cealtra.
Tenders for the works must be submitted by September 9th and the visitor centre is due to open to the public in March of next year.
General Manager of Clare Tourism East Stephen Hanley says the fact the Old Rectory was built at the beginning of the last century means the project is extensive.
