Irish Rail has confirmed that there’s now almost two feet of flood water covering its rail line at Ballycar, near Newmarket-on-Fergus.

Water levels are continuing rise at the flood-prone section of the track, which was forced to close for 140 days in 2015 and 110 days in 2014 due to the same issue.

This latest closure has now been ongoing for over two weeks.
