Rural Councillors Want Private Operators To Be Allowed Construct Wastewater Infrastructure In Clare

Clare’s rural Councillors are calling on the local authority to allow private developers to construct wastewater infrastructure in rural areas.

This week’s monthly meeting of representatives has heard 52 of Clare’s 85 towns and villages don’t have adequate infrastructure.

Councillors want the local authority to allow private operators to build what’s needed to allow these areas to develop.

Clare County Council says it will engage with Irish Water on the matter, but that without the utility’s approval, it would ‘not be in a position’ to facilitate privately-led developments.
