East Clare Councillor Criticises NBI For ‘Poor Communication’ On Broadband Rollout

An East Clare councillor is criticising National Broadband Ireland for what he says is their ‘poor communication’ on the continued rollout of the National Broadband Plan in this county.

Figures sent to the Oireachtas in response to a parliamentary question had suggested just 11 premises had been surveyed in Clare under the plan in the last 10 weeks.

However, it’s believed the actual figure is around 1,500, and that NBI have not yet logged these surveys to be included in official figures.

5,100 surveys are understood to have no been completed in this county – 1,500 in the Gort/Limerick deployment area, 2,899 in the Kilkishen region and around 700 in Feakle.

Maghera Fianna Fáil Councillor Pat Hayes says the Corofin area is where the rollout will continue – but that NBI’s communication hasn’t been good enough.
