Concerns Raised About ‘Delay’ In Kilkee Sewage System Upgrades

There are fresh calls for swift upgrades to be made to the wastewater system in Kilkee as a matter of urgency.

It comes after the beach in the West Clare town was closed to swimmers this weekend following HSE advice, due to what Clare County Council described as “a malfunction” of Irish Water’s sewage infrastructure in the area.

Improvements to the system were originally due to be completed by the end of 2021, but it is now believed that works will not be completed by the utility until 2025.
