Influx Of US Immigrants Possible In Clare Amid Surge In Asylum Claims

New figures show a total of 94 people from the US applied for international protection in this country in 2025, indicating a four-fold increase since 2022, while roughly 9,600 US citizens moved here in the 12 months to April 2025.

Manager of the Clare Immigrant Support Centre, Simon Ó Treasaigh, believes the US is going to continue to become a less welcoming place for certain groups.
