Inflatable toys, intended for use in swimming pools, look set to be banned from Clare’s beaches and waterways.
Mayor of Clare Mary Howard has called on the Council to changes its Beach by-laws to ban such devices in the interest of safety.
One child drowned in Ireland this summer following an incident involving one such inflatable, and there were a number of other close calls in which children were swept out to sea while using them.
