Increasing Calls For New Funding Model To Incentivise Airlines At Shannon

There are increasing calls for a new funding model to be put in place for Shannon and other regional airports.

A number of business groups, including Shannon and Ennis Chambers, have presented plans to the Department of Transport that could see airlines having their airport charges waived if they meet a certain percentage of pre-pandemic traffic.

It follows concerns raised last week that Aer Lingus cabin crew at Shannon may remain laid off longer than initially planned, having been expected to return to work next month.
