Increased Social Pressures Blamed For Clare’s High Suicide Rate

A prominent Clare psychiatrist is blaming an inability to cope with increased social pressures for the high suicide rate in this county.

Dr Mosajee Bhamjee is commenting in light of new figures which show the number of suicides in Clare has remained steady, despite an increased focus on mental health in recent years.

17 people took their own lives in this county last year, a marginal increase on 2016 – 14 of those were men.
