IDA Ireland have facilitated the trips by firms who could make investments in Ireland.

The IDA is responsible for attracting foreign companies to this country, and in the first half of the year they organised 247 site visits by potential investors.

Eight of these were in Clare, ranking the Banner seventh in the county-by-county table issued to the Dáil by Jobs Minister Richard Bruton.

The figure for all of last year was 9, while in 2013 it stood at 5.

Separate figures have also revealed that the number of workers in IDA supported companies here rose by over 100 last year to 6,343.

However, the 2% growth recorded in this figure last year is only half of the rate throughout the country.
