New figures released by the HSE show 680 girls received the shot in the 2012 – 2013 academic year.
Since the organisation began providing the HPV programme three years ago 42,000 young women have received it.
Dr. Ann Hogan – Principal Medical Officer with HSE Midwest – is welcoming the news and says a new two dose program should see the uptake increase.
