The incoming Cathaoirleach of the Killaloe Municipal District has pledged to continue the “harmony” in East Clare local politics.
Whitegate Fine Gael Councillor Pat Burke has handed the chain of office for the region to Killaloe Fianna Fáil Councillor Tony O’Brien at the annual general meeting of the MD this week.

First elected to Clare County Council in 2004, Councillor O’Brien has previously served in the role on three occasions and was Mayor of Clare from 2022 to 2023.
He says despite of differences in politics, the five local representatives of the area have a strong working relationship.
