Improving Access For Children With Special Needs Among Proudest Moments For Outgoing Flannans Principal

The outgoing Principal of St.Flannan’s College says ensuring the school will be more accessible for students with additional needs into the future is among the proudest moments of his career.

Fr. Ignatius McCormack came to Flannans in 2001, where he began his tenure teaching Classical Studies, Geography and Religion, before becoming Principal of Munster’s largest school in 2017.

The Offaly native who will now take a brief sabbatical before resuming a parish ministry in the Killaloe Diocese has pointed to the Harty Cup triumph in 2020 and their approved rapid build extension with special educational needs rooms as highlights.

Fr McCormack is hopeful he’s left the school in a better place.
