IFA Protest With Combine Harvester Outside Department Of Agriculture

The IFA has brought a combine harvester to the Department of Agriculture as part of a protest over compensation for crop losses.

Poor weather last year saw many farmers suffer major losses and there are reports the government plans to cap payments under the crisis fund at €5,000, despite EU rules stating a maximum of €15,000 per farmer can be awarded.

The IFA has been occupying the Department since last Wednesday, calling for clarity on the caps.
