The Irish Farmers Association is to make a submission to the government to urge them to intervene in An Post’s decision to close 159 post offices.

The consolidation of postal services was confirmed this week, with six Clare communities set to lose their local branch – namely Cooraclare, Cree, Craggah-Fanore, Doonbeg, Lisseycasey and Kilfenora.

A public meeting was held in Fanore last night where concerns were aired about the impact of the closure there, while one is scheduled for Kilfenora tonight.
