The figures, compiled by the Irish Farmers Association’s hotline, have been released as a new public information campaign on the matter is launched.

Timed to coincide with the lambing season, the campaign urges dog owners to take responsibility for their animals.

Nationally, up to 2.5 million lambs will be born on 30 thousand sheep farms across the country by the end of the lambing season.
