Viagogo says an excellent pool of available talent in the Midwest is the main reason the firm has decided to set up base in Limerick.
The online ticket market place is officially opening in the city today.
The company has operations across the globe and is aiming to have a number of hundred people employed in the Midwest before the year is out.
50 people are currently employed at Viagogo's temporary base in Limerick.
It provides an online service to buy and sell tickets for events and has customers in 100 countries and offices in 50.
The company says it will have move into a new state of the art facility in the city before the year is out where it says it hopes to have hundreds employed.
However global head of communications at Viagogo Oliver Wheeler has refused to be drawn on how many it expects to hire this year.
Mr Wheeler says a large pool of talent has attracted the firm to the Midwest.
The move is backed by the IDA and has been welcomed by Jobs Minister Richard Bruton.
IDA regional Manger for the Midwest Conor Agnew says the body is promoting the region's low cost of living and lower costs of doing businness to prospective company's.
As for future announcements and hopes of creating jobs in Clare Mr Agnew says a number of site visits by prospective new businnesses have taken place this year.
While emphaising that the IDA sells the Midwest as a region and not on a county by county basis he says he does expect to be making announcements relating to Clare in the near future.
