IDA Chief Predicts Clare Employment Boost

The IDA is expecting good news on the jobs front for County Clare and the Shannon Free Zone next year, but has warned there are still challenges ahead.

As the Industrial Development Agency has assumed the former role of Shannon Development in marketing the Mid-West to foreign investors, it’s CEO has met with businesses in Dromoland and Shannon yesterday.

Barry O’Leary said increased connectivity at the airport, the expansion of third level facilities in Limerick and the previous track record of companies like Intel, Mincon and Molex will be their main selling points to attract new companies to this region.

Following the loss of 63 jobs at the Kraus and Naimer facility in Shannon last week, the IDA Chief told Clare FM that workers can expect new businesses to come here next year.
