Hundreds Of Clare Adoptees And Relatives On Contact Preference Register

Hundreds of Clare adoptees and relatives have applied to be on the new Contact Preference Register, which was established in law earlier this year.

New figures from the Adoption Authority of Ireland show 203 adoptees in this county, along with 107 relatives, are currently on the list.

23 of those adoptees and two of those relatives have applied to be put on the register since the Birth Information and Tracing Act was enacted.

Services under the Act are to be provided free of charge and will be available from the 3rd of October.
