A presidential candidate has pledged to listen to and highlight the issues of people in Clare while acknowledging the work of the county’s unsung heroes if elected to the Áras.
Former Fine Gael deputy leader Heather Humphreys officially launched her bid for the presidency in her native County Monaghan over the weekend.

Prior to her decision not to contest last year’s General Election, she had served as a Fine Gael TD since 2011, holding a variety of ministerial portfolios including social protection, justice and the arts in that time.
Speaking on Clare FM’s Morning Focus, she says she has many fond memories of County Clare.
