Targeted measures to tackle waiting lists are expected to be announced as part of the HSE's service plan for next year later.

Plans to recruit hundreds of extra doctors and nurses, as well as the expansion of cancer services will also be announced.
The Irish Times reports that the Health Minister Leo Varadkar will advertise for 200 consultant doctor posts, subject to agreement with the Irish Medical Organisation on pay.
The Department of Health received an increase in its budget for next year, to over €13 billion and will have €330 million to spend on support services.
