The HSE’s 7 million euro spend on ambulance services over the past two years has been described in Clare as money down the drain.

The figures revealed to the HSE’s Regional Health Forum West show that last year, over 3.7 million euro was spent on this, a rise from the 3.4 million in 2016.

The money was spent to hire private ambulances and drivers, where the HSE’s existing fleet was under pressure and unable to cater to the demand.
