The HSE has rejected a proposal to defer it’s plan for further cutbacks in the Mid West.
Management at the Executive held two and a half hour’s of talks with representatives from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation last evening, following an announcement earlier this week that it’s to close 25 beds at Limerick regional hospital, and that it’s to halve spending on overtime and agency staff.
This come despite the fact that that spending on health services in the Mid West is lower than in almost every other region with figures unveiled on Clare FM yesterday revealing that the proportion of funding dropped by 38.5 million euro over the past five years
The plan has come under fire from local representatives and from Nursing Staff – however, Noel Treanor, Industrial Relations Officer of the INMO, says it’s still going ahead.
