A Shannon Sinn Féin Councillor is hitting out at the HSE for spending millions on hiring private ambulances, rather than investing in its own fleet.
Figures released by the HSE reveal the organisation has spent €38,054 on private ambulances at Ennis General since 2011, while some €1.6 million was spent on them at University Hospital Limerick.

These figures form part of the national total, which stands at around €31 million for that period.
Cllr Mike McKee, who is one of two Sinn Féin Dáil candidates in the next election in Clare, says it’s an unsustainable system.
