A senior HSE official is expressing concern about the impact HIQA’s latest report into St Joseph’s Hospital in Ennis is having on public confidence.
Three reports were released yesterday in which it outlined concerns over whether improvements at the Ennis facility are sustainable.
In January 2017, HIQA placed a restriction on new admissions there over concerns about the dignity and quality of life of residents, which the HSE challenged in court in a landmark case.
The health watchdog has mandated that it be notified if more than 100 residents are being accommodated there, despite it having capacity for 120.
Chief Officer of HSE Mid West Community Healthcare Bernard Gloster has termed some of HIQA’s findings as “unfair”, and says he’s raised concerns with the health watchdog.
