Fresh calls are being made for the Government to ‘break the cycle’ of rising rents by introducing a complete freeze on rents in areas like Clare.
The government this week published legislation that will cap rent increases by 2% per annum in designated rent pressure zones.
However, Aontú’s MidWest PRO says this offers no protection to areas such as Clare which saw an 18% rise in rents in the past year.
