Taoiseach Acknowledges Communication With Clare Communities Should Have Been Better

The Taoiseach has acknowledged that dialogue with communities in Clare surrounding the provision of accommodation for international protection applicants ‘should have been better’ in recent weeks.

It follows the removal of a makeshift roadblock by residents of Inch, on approach roads to Magowna House following the arrival of 34 Male International Protection Applicants without prior consultation last week.

It comes as Gardaí are currently investigating the alleged assault of a man in his 70’s at the site of a demonstration in Corofin, where parishioners are voicing their concerns over the mooted arrival of Asylum seekers to an unoccupied dwelling.
