Number Of New Presentations To Clare Homeless Action Team Nearly Doubles

The number of new presentations to the Clare Homeless Action Team nearly doubled last month when compared to the month prior.

It comes as the number of homeless families and children in this county remains unchanged.

A total of 174 people presented to the Clare Homeless Action Team in the four weeks between September 20th and October 15th.

Of those, 145 were repeat presentations, however 29 new people in need of help contacted the local authority.

This compares to the 18 new people who sought assistance the month prior, with the total number presenting coming in at over 34% fewer between mid-Augst and mid-September.

The number of families and children without a home in Clare remains constant, with 11 families including 20 children homeless here last month.

Despite an increase in the numbers contacting the Council’s Homeless Team, 10 fewer adults are without accommodation this month.

51 adults are now recorded as homeless in Clare, compared to 61 in September.

It comes as Clare Homeless Action Team helped 13 households exit homelessness last month, with 12 of those housed in own door accommodation.

Overall, the MidWest region retains the highest level of homelessness per head of the population of any area in Ireland, outside of Dublin, recording 282 adults in Clare and Limerick as being homeless.
